Idoma, along with Eloyi, Igede, Akatye Yatye, and Etulo, belongs to the Idomoid or Idoma-Etulo Group of Kwa. Idoma is spoken primarily within the Cross River and Benue states, Nigeria.
UBS (1982) and UBS (1991; cited in Grimes 1996) notes 600,000 speakers. Voegelin and Voegelin (1977) frankly admit that their figure of 118,000 is unreliable.
This is the principal language of these islands.
The Idoma orthography status is unknown to us as of this writing.
Presumably, one set of learning materials for Idoma should be sufficient.
