Suppire/Minianka, spoken in southeastern Mali, belongs to the Northern Senufo subgroup of Gur Voltaic.
Grimes (1996) cites figures of 364,000 speakers of Suppire and 500,000 speakers of Minianka. Glaze (l981) notes 300,000 speakers of Suppire, while Voegelin and Voegelin (1977) estimate 350,000.
Suppire is an important regional language in Mali.
All we have learned about the orthographic status of these languages is that the Senufo languages in Côte d'Ivoire use the official orthography developed for all languages in that country.
One set of materials appears to be sufficient.
