American Culture Nights provide an opportunity for visiting international professionals and their families to learn about and experience American culture first-hand. Following in the footsteps of early Americans, Thanksgiving traditions include a lesson on the history of Thanksgiving, people from many countries gathered together and a potluck dinner with food from many countries.

Experiences help visiting international professionals and their families get engaged by participating in American traditions. Celebrating the holiday season brings people together from many different religions at an annual celebration in the capital plaza in downtown Lansing. Activities include a tree lighting ceremony, an electric lights parade, carriage rides, live entertainment and fireworks.
