Dr. Helen Pollard

On September 3-4, 2009 a conference was held to honor the work of Dr. Helen P. Pollard by the Colegio de Michoacán, Mexico - Reconocimiento a la obra de la Dra. Helen P. Pollard. The papers presented will be published as a book in her honor. Two of the presenters are former MSU students [Christopher Fisher, Colorado State and Amy Hirshman, West Virginia University] and the remaining are Mexican, French, and American colleagues.
Dr. Danny Mendez

Dr. Danny Mendez has been awarded a prestigious teaching award, the Dominican Educators of Excellence in Higher Education for 2009 by the university UNAPEC (Asociacion de Estudios Dominicanos) in recognition of his dedication to the study, teaching and dissemination of Dominican Studies.
Dr. Rocio Quispe-Agnoli

Dr. Elvira Sánchez-Blake

Dr. Elvira Sánchez-Blake has just published the novel "Espiral de silencios" (Beaumont 2009), a historical account of Colombians in the midst of war searching for peace. She has presented the book in a number of international events including: the Bogota International Book Fair (August, 2009), the AILFH Conference in Ecuador (October 2009), and has been invited to present at the "Colombiage" Festival of Arts, London and the Festival "Otoño Cultural" in Mérida Yucatán, Mexico, (November 2009). In addition, Dr. Sánchez-Blake is the invited speaker for the Festival of Ibero-American Literature organized by Foyles and the Association of Cultural Attaches of Latin America, Spain and Portugal (ACALASP) in London, UK (November 10-15, 2009). She is presenting a talk on "Ibero American Women Writers: Challenges and Perspectives for the XXI century."
