RESIDENT DIRECTOR

Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Japan

The Resident Director is responsible for managing and administering JCMU academic programs, day-to-day operations of the Center, including the budget and supervising students, staff, and faculty. Other duties include teaching a Japanese Culture and Society course, representing the JCMU consortium in public functions, and maintaining communications with MSU and relevant Japanese and American associates.

JCMU is administered by Michigan State University (MSU) on behalf of the State of Michigan and its fifteen public universities, and in cooperation with Shiga Prefecture.

The resident director is a full-time, annually renewable position with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2009 or the soonest date practicable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Compensation includes a full MSU benefits package.

JCMU operates in facilities owned by Shiga Prefecture on the shore of Lake Biwa, in the town of Hikone, approximately one hour from Kyoto.
