Eligibility
-
Students must be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 2.5 at the time of application and must have completed two semesters at the college level before the program begins. JCMU's language courses are intensive and require a strong work ethic in order to succeed. Meeting this minimum GPA does not, however, guarantee acceptance: additional eligibility criteria do apply, as outlined below.
-
Students are evaluated in a number of areas during the application review process, and acceptance to JCMU is based on the program coordinator's review of the student's transcript, Personal Essay, Dean of Students Reference Form, and Faculty Recommendations.
-
Applications from JCMU Consortium university students are given priority and evaluated for acceptance throughout the year. Applications from non-Consortium students are dated upon being received, and reviewed starting on the appropriate application deadline. Applications from our Affiliate institutions will be given admission priority over those from non-Consortium and non-Affiliate institutions. Applications received after the deadline (regardless of home institution) will be reviewed on a first-come first-serve basis.
-
While accepted students will be admitted for their entire intended period of stay, this acceptance may be revoked for subsequent semesters based on the student's academic performance and behavior as determined by the Resident Director, Program Coordinator, and/or Language Program Coordinator.
