After more than 20 years, the Every Tuesday group (ET) continues to flourish and serve the needs of numerous international spouses. Each week we average about twenty international spouses and a dozen of their preschool children. This year the countries represented are Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Peru, Puerto Rico, Taiwan and the Ukraine.
We are fortunate this year to have five of the international wives as official assistants. They help to plan the programs, prepare materials, set up and clean up for each meeting. Our spouse co-chair Ileana Hernandez-Caban, sends an email reminder each Monday, in which she explains the planned activity, tells what materials (if any) to bring and the cost of the project. We credit this email contact for increasing our regular attendance by about 50% for the two years we have been using it.
"E.T." meets every Tuesday (except the second Tuesday of the month) from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at University Lutheran Church, 1020 South Harrison Road across from Cherry Lane Apartments.
The E.T. group invites all international spouses to join them for an afternoon of conversation, activities and food. There is a small charge for supplies for craft and food activities. Preschool children are welcome. For more information, call Mary Barrett (337-2212), Erika Nwankwo (351-4548), Ileana Hernandez/Caban (355-6096) or Lois Park (351-5106).
