Friendship Family Program
After being on hold for over a year, the Friendship Family Program is up and running again. Iris Horner has been busy recruiting and matching families with inter-national students. Bonnie Bankson has spent hours updating the database and entering all the applications and matches.
The first orientation took placeSunday, September 11, 2005 with 43 students and 41 families taking part. Seeing the interaction that took place as they visited for the first time made all the time and energy spent recruiting and matching seem very worth-while. Peter Briggs (OISS), Dottie Schimdt and Peggy Arbanas helped in many ways to make this a successful event.
The second orientation was Sunday, October 30, 2005. We have another group of won-derful families and students taking part with Pat Walters English Language Center and Ravi Ammigan (OISS) leading the orien-tation.
We have developed a power point presentation that gives interesting insights about international students and their impact on our community.
