Fall 2005

The Visioning Committee
Submitted by Frank Fear, Chairperson

The Visioning Committee is responsible for forward thinking on matters of strategic directions for CVIP, including matters per-taining to community relations and organization development. The Committee includes eight persons--six non-board mem-bers and two board members--with ex officio members as deemed appropriate.  All mem-bers are appointed by the CVIP President with board approval. Members serve staggered terms of 1, 2, and 3 years with the possibility of reappointment as determined by the President; and the members elect a chairperson who serves for one calendar year with the possibility of reappointment. The committee meets at least three times per year. Following each meeting the committee chairperson presents a written report to the CVIP board.

Visioning Committee members for 2005-2006 are Dennis Marvin, Consumer's Energy; Martha Fujita, City of Lansing; Barbara Roberts-Mason, Sister Cities; Fred Fritz, University Lutheran Church; Jerry Mattson, Kiwanis Club of East Lansing; and Frank Fear, MSU (non-board members); and Stacey Bieler and Margaret Beall (board members). There are two ex officio members: Dottie Schmidt, CVIP President and Peter Briggs, MSU Office for International Students and Scholars.

The committee has met three times since its creation. Members have discussed a variety of issues associated with CVIP current and future directions, including such matters as member recruitment. At the most recent meeting, committee members reviewed three general scenarios for future directions and made a recommendation to the CVIP board regarding a preferred option.
