Freshman Composition Class Placement

MSU's freshman composition course will prepare you for a lifetime of effective written communication—the first step in a series of courses during college that will require substantial amounts of writing. Students are placed into a Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures (WRA) course based on their ACT/SAT test scores. For more information, visit: http://wrac.msu.edu. Students wishing to "write out" of their Preparation for College Writing course (WRA 1004/0102) will have the opportunity to write an essay during International Student Orientation.

Regularly admitted undergraduate international students may take an optional writing placement essay exam on Saturday, Aug. 26th, 10 am, 108 Bessey Hall or Monday, Aug. 28th, 1 pm, 307 Bessey Hall.  This essay exam is designed for students who have been placed in WRA 1004/102 Preparation for College Writing, but feel that their extra language experience and learning might qualify them to take a Tier 1 (WRA 101) course instead.  International students must be regularly admitted students in order to qualify for this essay exam.

If you have any questions about this placement opportunity, please e-mail Joyce Meier (meierjo(at)msu.edu) by Friday, August 25, 2017.
