This one-day workshop will explore best practices in teaching Arabic language learners in the U.S. Topics will include:

 

  • Establishing a clear understnanding of learner-centered instruction and strategies that encourage student involvement in the learning process;
  • Integrating the strategies of the 5Cs language goals with learner-centered instruction, and how to use effective strategies of GRR (I do-we do-you do);
  • Exploration of a variety of teaching and support materials, and preparation of mini lesson plans using levelappropriate​ materials;
  • Enriching Arabic classroom libraries through the provision of samples of stories, games, and materials from everyday life, focusing on how to use them as teaching aids.


Participants who complete the workshop will receive a variety of teaching materials including children's books and stories to enrich their classroom library. The workshop is free and a light lunch will be provided. Pending approval, SCECH credits will be offered.
