Program will give students an in-depth, short-term experience in West Africa combined with course work and language study to enrich that experience. Program excursions are intended to provide students with a more comprehensive view of the great medieval history of Malian empires, Islamic heritage in Africa, French colonialism, African Francophone culture, African politics and development, and the extensive artistic and architectural traditions of Mali.
