A selection of small tented camps & lodges on private land in Kenya's most scenic wildlife areas. The Taita Discovery Centre is a part of Savanah Camps and Lodges, a Safari organization. Volunteers are urgently needed to monitor elephant migrations on the edge of Tsavo National Park, Kenya. CITES Conference in Nairobi Kenya, agreed to a two year extension, to the worldwide ban in trade in ivory and elephant products. Conservationists in East Africa predict that if and when the day this trade resumes, so will the illegal slaughter of Tsavo's elephants. The Taita Discovery Centre aims to assist the communities of the Taru Desert to protect these elephants by assisting with some of the various financial obligations, but also (by use of data collected by our volunteers) highlighting to the appropriate government and non government institutions the need for their proactive conservation before the 2002 deadline approaches.
