EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Peace Corps team at Michigan State University will hold a recruitment event on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 to 11:30 am as part of MSU’s Alumni weekend festivities.

A special guest – Carrie Hessler-Radelet, Acting Director of the Peace Corps, will be available between 10:30 and 11: 30 am to interact with current Peace Corps applicants, MSU students and their families and MSU alumni.

Hessler-Radelet’s personal story and family history with Peace Corps provide a strong example of how the Peace Corps can lay a foundation for a rewarding and successful career path. Hessler-Radelet and her husband, Steve Radelet, served together as Peace Corps Volunteers in Western Samoa (1981-1983). She taught high school and helped design a national public awareness campaign on disaster preparedness. Upon completing service abroad, she served as public affairs specialist in the Peace Corps/New England Recruiting Office (1984-1986).

For the twelfth year in a row, Michigan State University has been placed on the Peace Corps top 25 list of large universities nationwide producing Peace Corps volunteers. Michigan State has moved up from last year’s No.9 spot to No.7 in this year’s rankings, with 90 alumni currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers, three more than last year.

Please stop by the Peace Corps table in the International Center at MSU on Saturday, Oct. 13between 9am and 11:30am.

For more information or questions about the competition please email Stephanie Motschenbacher, International Studies and Programs at motsche3@msu.edu or call 517-884-2134.
