Burma holds a special place in MSU's history

International students have played a huge role in Michigan State University's history and current role in the world. From a handful in the late 1800's, including Kolai S. Thabue of Burma in 1891, their numbers have grown to more than 6,200, making MSU one of the top 10 for international student enrolment in the country.
