MSU celebrates International Education Week
Michigan State University is hosting a variety of events to help celebrate International Education Week, Nov. 14-18.
Global Festival
The 27th Annual Global Festival (http://cvip.isp.msu.edu/globalfestival/) will kick-off MSU’s week- long celebration of international education Nov. 13. The festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the MSU Union.
The festival’s live entertainment is a mosaic of music and dance representing more than 30 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America.

With hundreds of cultural displays and demonstrations, the festival offers international cuisine at the Global Café, and hands-on art projects, games and activities for children of all ages.
A favorite feature of the festival is the World Gift Shop, offering a variety of international art works, jewelry, glassware, clothing, and a multitude of gift items for sale. Proceeds support scholarship fund for spouses of international students to attend MSU classes.
Festival admission and parking on campus are free.

Global Focus international photography competition

The annual Global Focus international photography competition entries are in — now everyone will have the chance to vote on their favorite pick for People’s Choice.

First, second and third place winners will be chosen in each category of student, faculty/staff and alumni photos, but a people’s choice will also be decided in each category through online voting.

All photographs entered in the competition are taken outside the United States on business trips, personal vacations or during educational experiences like study abroad. Some are of people and some are of places; all are a visual representation of culture.

Winners of Global Focus will be displayed in the International Center lobby, as well as published online at www.isp.msu.edu/awards/photocontest and in ISP’s annual magazine, “MSU International.”

International Coffee Hour

International Coffee Hour takes place Nov. 18 from 4 pm to 6 pm in Spartan Rooms B& C in the International Center. The coffee hour is where winners of the International Students and Study Abroad Students essay contests will be announced. Winners will read their essays at this event. This is the 10th anniversary of the International Student Essay contest.
