New Supporters Develop Mango Industry in India

With support from the Agricultural Product Export Development Authority, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and the National Institute of Marketing Boards, the Indian Horticulture Development Alliance is promoting growth in the Indian mango market.

Deepa Thiagarajan, assistant professor of sociology, and Les Bourquin, associate professor of food science and nutrition, are leading the alliance, which involves in country coordinators and supporting agencies. The goal is to develop 100 demonstration farms in Maharashtra to create train-the-trainer programs that will spread throughout India.
