    MSU Opens 2011 International Photo Contest with online submissions Published: Friday, 26 Aug 2011
    International Studies and Programs (ISP), in partnership with the Michigan State University Alumni Association, have opened the call for entries to the 2011 international photo competition, Global Focus. For the first time this year, photos can be uploaded via an online entry form. Contest organizers hope this will encourage more entries, especially from international participants. Submissions are due Friday.

    During my time in Sydney, we were able to attend a State of Origin rugby game, which is comparable to the Pro Bowl for American football, except that the State of Origin game is taken way more seriously than the Pro Bowl is in the United States. The game is played in ANZ stadium (the stadium that housed the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney) and is a HUGE rivalry between New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland.

    The Muslim Studies Program and the Asian Studies Center at Michigan State University have been awarded more than $99,000 from the Social Science Research Council to study how Muslim American popular culture compares to other Muslim communities around the world.

    New research conducted by Michigan State University, Renmin University and Landesa shows China is at a crossroads in its agriculture development. As a result, MSU researchers suggest that China should protect land rights of all farm families and restrict corporate farming if it wants to close the income gap between cities and countryside.
