Since 1999, the MSU Office of International Studies and Programs, in cooperation with the MSU Alumni Association, has sponsored MSU Global Focus, an annual international photography competition for MSU students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Every fall, hundreds of entries are received and evaluated by a panel of jurors made up of a combination of MSU faculty and staff with photographic expertise and professional photographers or studio owners from the community.

For MSU Global Focus 2007, 30 winning images were chosen from more than 200 entries. These winning photos, along with information about the artists, their prizes, and the prize sponsors, are displayed from the menu above. Framed enlargements of the 2007 top three photos from each category will be displayed in the International Center lobby in spring 2008, and enlargements of the honorable mention photos will be on display elsewhere in the building.

We thank the many participants, prize sponsors, and other supporters of this popular annual tradition! We also thank the jurors, David Korte, Greg Kohuth, and Roy Saper.

We hope you enjoy these new images, as well as the images from previous competitions displayed in our virtual gallery. Specific information about MSU Global Focus 2008 will be announced soon.

GLOBAL FOCUS: IMAGES OF A LAND-GRANT TRADITION, published in late 2005, highlights a selection of past winners, along with images of MSU’s long history of international involvements. For more information about this volume, visit the MSU Press website at www.msupress.msu.edu.
