The Partnership for Sustainable Community Development (PDF)* (/documents/PSCDoverview04-19-10.pdf)
Michigan State University's vision for the land-grant University of the 21st century places an emphasis on transforming lives around the world by solving some of the most challenging problems of our time. This means being involved in work that cuts across boundaries - disciplinary, geographic, social, and political - to address society's most pressing needs. Partnerships for Sustainable Community Development (PSCD) uses the vast capabilities and broad knowledge of Michigan State University, a major research institution, to address these challenges in collaboration with our international partners in developing regions of the world. The initial partnership has begun work in Tanzania. The Tanzania Partnership Program (TPP) provides an opportunity to develop, test, and refine the PSCD model. Tanzania was selected as the initial location for PSCD based on demonstrated need, potential for success, MSU's experience in the region, and an array of interested partners.
