David D. Horner International Student Scholarship Fund (/../funding/ungrad_scholarships.htm) The purpose of the Horner Fund is to provide emergency Scholarship assistance to students in financial distress and to further the University's interest in obtaining the educational benefits derived from a racially and ethnically diverse student body. The scholarships are made without expectation of repayment. The situations that cause a student to apply for an emergency scholarship are broad-ranging and might be anything from loss of housing to family health issues to unbudgeted academic costs. The characteristics of these situations however, are unanticipated by the student, not of the student's creation and are a threat to the student's ability to remain at MSU. The scholarship will be used as a tool to retain international students whose participation in the classroom and presence on campus foster a varied educational experience that helps all students learn and prepares them for an increasingly diverse society. |
