U.S. Department of State Travel Recommendations

The U.S. Department of State's Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management (ACS) provides information for the public on conditions abroad that may affect safe and secure travel.

The links below will connect you to the U.S. Department of State's Consular Information Program, which makes available country specific information, travel alerts, and travel warnings.

  • U.S. Department of State includes up-to-date information regarding consular affairs, services such as passports, visas and other travel resources
  • U.S. Department of State Travel Registry for United States citizens, permanent residents or other visa holders who are traveling/moving to a foreign country. Registration can also help the Department of State provide assistance in case of an emergency while abroad.
  • Overseas Security Advisory Council provides timely information and news updates for the private sector, including colleges and universities, on which to make informed decisions about security issues. All information is available to its members. As a member, MSU makes information available to faculty and staff through its International Health and Safety Analyst, Ben Chamberlain chambe84@msu.edu.
