The Visiting International
Professional Program (VIPP), a part of International Studies and Programs
(ISP) at Michigan State University since 1991, is a unique,
non-degree certificate program for international professionals,
businesses, and organizations, designed to meet the growing
worldwide demand for educational training and to facilitate
the exchange of ideas among real-world professionals
To cope
with the challenges of the 21st century, global professionals
increasingly seek opportunities to gain new insights into their
professions, especially within a global context, and to reach
greater competence in communicating in English with other global
professionals. It is obvious to many real-world professionals
they need current, multidisciplinary, cross-cultural, and global
perspectives, as well as an understanding of contemporary issues
in order to recognize, analyze and develop solutions to the
world's challenges. Often, these needs cannot adequately be
met within an individual's company or agency, or at educational
institutions within that individual's home country. Even when
corporations and government agencies recognize the need to seek
development opportunities for their upper-and mid-level executives,
many of the available programs do not offer the flexibility
and breadth of coverage necessary to meet their specific needs
and situations. VIPP was developed and implemented to bring
the expertise within MSU to bear on international leadership
training needs and to build ongoing practical links between
the global society and academia.
As a pioneer of globalization, VIPP has been a leader among international education programs, particularly in the U. S., and VIPP pledges to make a continuous commitment to provide quality programs to international communities.
