At the Visiting International Professional Program, your educational experience
will take place both inside and outside of the classroom. Whether attending a class or a conference, becoming a community volunteer or a member of various university organizations, or setting out on an organized educational journey to experience American culture, you have a chance to pursue your interests, values, and goals. University and community special interest clubs focus on professional and international interests, community service, social and cultural concerns, athletic pursuits, conferences, and language support. At the Visiting International Professional Program, our staff will help you find connections for all of your academic and campus interests.

In addition to academic classes, MSU has a special, volunteer-based language program which is not only available to you, but also to your entire family. The volunteers are members of the community, all of whom enjoy working with people from other countries. Here you can participate in casual discussions with the instructor and other members of the group. You can find information about this service from the VIPP office, the office of International Students and Scholars, and from the Community Volunteers for International Program.

Beyond the MSU campus, the City of East Lansing offers an exceptional look into the mid-western American lifestyle. This small campus town hosts festivals year round and offers a unique microcosm of global experience. Next door is the City of Lansing, the capital city of the state of Michigan, hosting state government offices and its own professional baseball team. Additionally, we are only a few hours' drive from Chicago, Illinois, Toronto, Canada and other beautiful destinations within the State of Michigan.
