Campus wide, many academic units such as individual departments or schools regularly offer field-specific lectures, seminars and workshops. In the state of Michigan, several governmental and trade organizations offer diverse talks for foreign professionals to widen the professional knowledge and deepen the relationship with experts in the Michigan area.

  • Professional Site Visits/ Job shadow program: VIPP fellows are encouraged to meet with local, area, and national experts in their fields to discuss current issues and exchange ideas. If needed, VIPP is working with several local businesses and government agencies to offer VIPP visiting scholars the opportunity to spend a short period of time experiencing "on the job" training with American business and government agencies, which we call our "Job Shadow Program.". We Strive to offer this opportunity to as many professionals as possible.

  • Professional Local Site Visits /Field Research: VIPP can organize field research activities with businesses, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations throughout Lansing and Michigan. Such field research activities allow VIPP fellows to be engaged in dialogues and exchange ideas with American professionals in their fields. Field research activities are planned and organized in accordance with participant interest and within the limits of available matching professionals in related fields.

  • Academic Independent Studies: Many research opportunities are available through VIPP and MSU, enabling fellows to advance their knowledge and keep pace with current developments and issues in their fields through independent research. VIPP fellows are able to augment their academic and professional experiences by taking advantage of the resources available at the MSU Library, as well as the many specialized departmental libraries on campus. As a option, depending on your professional interest and qualifications, professionals who pursue an advanced certificate of completion, can choose an intensive independent study plan, which will help to develop a quality academic research project with intensive academic guidance from our VIPP Academic Advisory Committee.
