Biography: John Haupt serves as the curriculum integration specialist assigned to work with all colleges across campus to assist in further integrating education abroad into their curriculum. In addition to this role, he also serves a program coordinator for Lyman Briggs College, the Honors College, the Graduate School, and the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities.

A native of the Cincinnati area, John has worked in international education his entire professional career. Over the past six years, he has worked at the tertiary level with both domestic students seeking to study abroad, and international students pursuing degrees in the United States. John possesses a diverse educational background with two bachelor’s degrees from Northern Kentucky University in Secondary Education and International Studies, one master’s degree in Linguistics from Ohio University, and another master’s degree from the University of Kentucky’s Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in International Education from the University of Kentucky. As a student and working professional, John has had the opportunity to study and work overseas. He participated in three education abroad programs as an undergraduate in Ireland, Spain, and Cameroon and one as a graduate student in Mexico. He also taught English in South Korea for two years. Moreover, John is a published author and has presented at numerous professional conferences. He is currently working on a project to investigate the relationship between education abroad participation and degree completion.

John believes in the power of education abroad and the idea that education abroad is a high impact practice with the power to promote personal, academic, and professional growth in all students. Through his role at MSU, he seeks to provide further opportunities for students to incorporate education abroad into their degree plan.
