Dr. Tarryn Li-Min Chun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre at the University of Notre Dame. Her research focuses on the intersections of performance, technology, and media in modern and contemporary Sinophone theatre. She is the author of Revolutionary Stagecraft: Theater, Technology, and Politics in Modern China (University of Michigan Press, 2024) and co-editor with Xiaomei Chen and Siyuan Liu of Rethinking Socialist Theaters of Reform: Performance Practice and Debate in the Mao Era (University of Michigan Press, 2022). Her work has appeared in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture, Theatre Journal, Theatre Survey, TDR, and Asian Theatre Journal, and several edited volumes. Chun currently serves as Online Editor for Theatre Journal and received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for her current project on "Spectacle and Excess in Global Chinese Performance."
This talk is hosted by Dr. Laura MacDonald, Assistant Professor, Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) at MSU.

Join curator Rachel Winter for a special Muslim Journeys tour of the exhibition Samia Halaby: Eye Witness at the MSU Broad Art Museum. Journey through noted abstract painter Samia Halaby's life as an art student at MSU, through her time in the Midwest and the East Coast, including visits back to Jerusalem and the Arab World. Experience her drawings, paintings, and digital art in her first American museum retrospective. Come at 6pm to see the exhibition on your own; the tour will begin at 6:30pm.
Free and open to the public; space is limited, so please register in advance via the library website.
