The Office for Inclusion and  Intercultural Initiatives invites you to the MSU Dialogues Kickoff Event

Dr. Patricia Gurin is the Nancy Cantor Distinguished University Professor and the Arthur Thurnau Professor, Emerita, at the University of Michigan.  Her research interests include the role of social identities in individual and collective behavior, political mobilization of groups traditionally underrepresented in U.S. politics, and the educational and social implications of diversity in both higher education and the broader society.  She is the author of nine books and monographs, and numerous articles and chapters.  Her most recent book (2013), written with Ratnesh Nagda and Ximena Zúñiga, is Dialogue Across Difference: Practice, Theory, and Research on Intergroup Dialogue. A multiply honored teacher at the University of Michigan, she continues to teach and directs research in the Program on Intergroup Relations, a program that developed the intergroup dialogue curricular method now being applied at over 100 universities.  She was the University of Michigan expert witness on the educational value of diversity in its affirmative action cases, Grutter v. Bollinger and Gratz v. Bollinger, heard by the Supreme Court in 2003.
