Children will have the opportunity to see the world from the Red Cedar Elementary School gym as the annual "One World; Many Stories" event promotes literacy and intercultural understanding.

Saturday, March 20 at 1p.m. Barbara Kerley's book "One World: One Day" will show how children around the world live remarkably similar lives as the story follows, with pictures, one day from sunrise to sunset.

Kerley, a former Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, promotes international awareness, saying, "All of us around the world have much in common. The more we can embrace our commonality, the more tolerant we can be of our differences."

Aside from a reading of the book, children who attend the afternoon event will have the chance to participate in language learning, writing, music, dance and more demonstrated by international students from MSU.

The event is free and open to the public, with donations encouraged to help cover the cost of the books that will be distributed to the children. To donate or for more information on the event, contact Nicole Namy, Office of International Students and Scholars, at namynico@msu.edu, or call (517)-353-1720.
