A recent reception at MSU’s new Beijing office provided an opportunity for around 20 newly admitted undergraduate and graduate students from China to meet and mingle with MSU staff and alumni, as well as a group of Michigan students participating in MSU’s new “China Adventure” study abroad program. The July 6 reception was supported by the MSU Honors College, sponsor of the China Adventure program for “gifted and talented” students. The event was organized by the newly appointed managing director of the MSU China Office, Shuguang Lu (front row, right), himself an MSU alumnus. Among the 45 participants were around 20 newly admitted Chinese students, the 11 Michigan high school students, and a half dozen Chinese alumni. MSU Vice President for Global Engagement and Strategic Projects John Hudzik and Honors College Dean Ron Fisher (back row, left) addressed the group, welcoming the new students into the MSU family. Tongzeng Bao, head of the education section of the Chinese Consulate in Chicago, also greeted the audience and spoke highly of MSU’s reputation.
