About ISP

International Studies and Programs (ISP) supports
university-wide initiatives and partnerships to advance an understanding of global challenges among students, faculty, staff and partner institutions.

ISP leads the university's effort to create a global network of partner institutions (/../agreements/index.php), non-governmental organizations and private sector organizations that can transcend geographic and disciplinary boundaries to help globalize education and solve some of the world's most challenging problems.

ISP units are:

• Resource centers for foreign language, international and global studies
• Programs and intiatives that harness talent and bright ideas from around the world in a Network of Networks
• Avenues for MSU faculty, students and staff to collaborate in research and problem solving across countries, projects and multi-continent consortiums.
• Sources of programming for K-16 students and teachers, lifelong learners and Michigan businesses

The ISP Team

Within ISP ( (/resources/publications.htm)) are offices with responsibility for research collaboration (http://www.isp.msu.edu/oirc/), study abroad (http://studyabroad.msu.edu), international students and scholars, (http://oiss.msu.edu/) vistiting international professional programs (http://vipp.isp.msu.edu/), student exchange programs (http://americansemester.isp.msu.edu/) and Peace Corps recruiting (/peacecorps), as well as area studies centers focusing on Africa (http://africa.msu.edu/), Asia (http://asianstudies.msu.edu/), Canada (http://canadianstudies.msu.edu/), Europe and Russia (http://cers.msu.edu/) and Latin America and the Caribbean (http://clacs.msu.edu/). ISP also has strong ties to thematic international units across the campus focusing on international aspects of agriculture (http://www.iia.msu.edu), business (http://www.ciber.bus.msu.edu/), education (http://www.educ.msu.edu/), engineering (http://www.egr.msu.edu/), gender (http://gencen.msu.edu/), health (http://www.msu.edu/unit/iih/) international development (http://casid.isp.msu.edu/)and languages (http://clear.msu.edu).

In addition, the ISP Dean consults with an Advisory-Consultative Committee (/accmins/), a structure that is part of MSU's academic governance, (/https://www.msu.edu/unit/acadgov/advisory/index.html) on topics ranging from study abroad programs, foreign student affairs and exchange relationships with foreign institutions to international comparative and area studies, international contractual projects and other relationships. The committee serves as the principal channel of communication at the policy level between ISP, faculty and students.
