Internationalizing Grandparents University
Published: Wednesday, 01 Jul 2009
This year, International Studies and Programs (ISP) hosted a model United Nations session for participants in the Michigan State University Alumni Associations (MSUAA) 2009 Grandparents University.
During the two-part session, international experts from MSU's Area Studies Centers introduced children along with their grandparents to the history, culture, and current issues facing children in three of the worlds major regions. As delegates representing various countries, children engaged in presentations, problem solution discussions, and held a mock vote on the best ideas. MSU Grandparents University is a program for grandparents and grandchildren (ages 8-12) to come together for a 3-day educational experience while spending time together on the MSU campus.
Participants enjoy the college experience of living in the dorms, attending classes across campus and sampling the many highlights of MSU. The program gives alumni a chance to relive their college days while exploring new areas of campus and creating lifelong memories with their grandchildren.
Thank you to those who joined ISP during Grandparents University 2009. We enjoyed having you visit us here on campus and hope that you will make plans to visit again soon.
