Consortium on Development Studies honors Corey

Kenneth E. Corey, a professor at Michigan State University, is the recipient of the first Gill-Chin Lim Global Award from the Consortium on Development Studies. The award was presented to Corey this summer at a ceremony held at Hanyang University in Korea. The award carries a cash grant of $10,000, supported by Lims family.
The consortium, which is based in Seoul, Korea, honors the achievement of scholars and professionals who have demonstrated outstanding service and scholarly contributions in the field of humanistic globalization. The award was established to honor the late Gill-Chin Lim, the consortium founder and former dean of International Studies and Programs at Michigan State.
Corey, a professor of geography and urban planning in the College of Social Science, conducts research in Southeast Asia, Korea, Sri Lanka, Western Europe and North America. He has been a Fulbright Research Scholar at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore. He has held Visiting Professor appointments at Peking University, People's Republic of China and at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom.
His current research focuses on topics such as electronic space, knowledge economy and technology-based models in Southeast Asia.
