On May 12, 2011, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced updates to the list of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) designated degree program list. The degree program code is listed in the upper left side of the third page of your I-20. If this code corresponds with the code listed on the STEM list, then your degree is in a STEM field.
