MSU alum, Boen Purnama, discusses timber markets and sustainable forest management

Boen Purnam says markets can provide both positive and negative impacts on sustainable forest management. The existence of illegal markets for timber in combination with a distorted domestic market has become one cause of a rampant illegal logging business and is contributing to forest degradation and deforestation.
