MFS 2026 Michigan Fulbright Symposium

Welcome

This day-long event, first held in 2025, is sponsored by the Michigan/Northwest Ohio Fulbright Association, the West and Mid-Michigan chapter of the Fulbright Association, and Michigan State University.

The Michigan Fulbright Symposium (MFS) brings together people from across the region to join with Fulbright alumni, Fulbright visiting students and scholars, friends of Fulbright, and potential future Fulbrighters to share their research and Fulbright experiences, network, commune over meals, and influence the future of the Fulbright program and its alumni network.

Symposium Details

  • When:  Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9:30am to 5:00pm (exact time TBD)
  • Where: MSU International Center (427 N Shaw Ln, East Lansing, MI 48824).

Registration & Session Submission

Call for Proposals - DUE FEBRUARY 16

  • Please use this link to propose a session or poster, or to sign up to be on a panel.
  • The deadline to submit a proposal is Monday, February 16 at 9:00pm.
  • Note that all presenters will still have to register for the event in addition to submitting a proposal. 
  • Most sessions will be for a 20-minute slot within a longer block of 3-4 presentations.
  • We will also be introducing some panels this year, which will likely be held as "double" sessions for about 40 minutes.
  • Attendees will also be able to propose poster sessions that can be explored throughout the day.

Symposium Registration

  • We will open registration in mid-February. Please check back!
  • Registration fees are used primarily to offset food expenses, and are tiered to help ensure the conference is accessible to the widest possible audience. 
  • Costs this year will be:
    • $15 for international students and scholars, as well as for US students
    • $30 for US faculty and independent scholars

Inaugural Michigan Fulbright Symposium (2025)

  • Date: April 12, 2025
  • Host: Michigan State University
  • Attendees: 100 people from across the state
    • Institutions represented: Central Michigan University, Cooley Law School, Delta College, Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University, Oakland University, Union University, University of Michigan, University of Toledo, Western Michigan University, and more, in addition to independent scholars
  • Countries: At least 30 different home/host countries 
  • Sessions: 22 sessions and 2 poster presentations
