In this talk, former U.S. Ambassador Roger Meece will draw on decades of international diplomacy experience to discuss United Nations engagement in Africa, highlighting peacekeeping operations and other key areas of involvement, associated issues and controversies. He will also address the past and potential future U.S. role in this sector, a subject of particular importance given the current U.S. administration's proposed cuts to foreign affairs and assistance budgets, as well as support to the U.N. and its agencies.
A light lunch will be served.
