Attend this online session to learn more about the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) program. The session will be given by Joy Campbell, MSU's Fulbright-Hays Project Director. Following are some key points about the DDRA program:

  • This is a competitive grant program funded by the US Department of Education that enables US citizen/permanent resident PhD candidates to do dissertation research abroad for six to twelve months.
  • Grants are available worldwide except for Western Europe and must be related to modern foreign languages or area studies. Area studies can be broadly defined and can include interdisciplinary fields.
  • Awards generally provide international airfare, a maintenance allowance based on living costs in the host country, research-related expenses, and supplemental insurance.
  • Fellows must possess a high enough language proficiency level to carry out their research in the target language.
