MSU has a unique tradition: the MSU Alumni Association, along with the Division of Student Affairs and Services, invites graduating students to a reception at the presidential residence, Cowles House, prior to each Commencement. The President's Graduate Reception provides an opportunity to take pictures with MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon and Sparty, see Cowles House, and enjoy wonderful food and beverages in the company of your fellow graduates and university administrators. VIPP had an opportunity to take part in this tradition. On November 28, 2017, selected VIPP participants attended this ceremony with VIPP Assistant Director Dr. Mina Shin.

Upon entering Cowles House, VIPP was greeted by President Simon and Sparty and had a chance to take an individual picture with them.

President Simon congratulated the graduating class of 2017 and emphasized that upon graduation, MSU and VIPP alumni now have a permanent relationship.

VIPP participants enjoyed the event, mingling with other MSU graduates and looking around the beautiful Cowles House, the historical campus landmark as well as the official residence for the president of MSU.

VIPP participants posed with Sparty and MSU Alumni Association leadership team: Scott Westerman, Associate Vice President and Executive Director (far right), and Sue Petrisin, Associate Director (on Sparty's left). VIPP thanks the MSU Alumni Association for including our VIPP graduates in this event.
