Attend this online session to learn more about the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) program. The session will be given by Joy Campbell, MSU's Fulbright-Hays Project Director. Following are some key points about the DDRA program:
- This is a competitive grant program funded by the US Department of Education that enables US citizen/permanent resident PhD candidates to do dissertation research abroad for six to twelve months.
- Grants are available worldwide except for Western Europe and must be related to language or area studies. Area studies can be broadly defined and can include interdisciplinary fields.
- Awards generally provide international airfare, a maintenance allowance based on living costs in the host country, research-related expenses, and supplemental insurance.
- Fellows must possess a high enough language proficiency level to carry out their research in the target language.
- The competition is expected to open in the coming weeks, though the publication date has varied widely in past years.
