Sydney standing in front of a colorful village in S KoreaStudying abroad in South Korea was everything I expected and so much more. Filled with excitement and curiosity, I left my home country with an open mind, eager to immerse myself in a new culture. I met many people from all over the world and all across the U.S. who all had come to Korea for vastly different reasons. I was so fortunate to continue my education at Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s most prestigious universities. The classes available were fun and interesting, and there was always some sort of event happening every week on campus.

Outside of the classroom there was so much to do since the university is located in Seoul, the cultural, economic, political, center of Korea. I spent my time in Seoul going to museums, cafes, markets, shopping, and trying local delicacies, such as kimchi, bibimbap, and street food. During weekends and breaks, Sydney standing in front of Korean palaceI eagerly explored the country, taking full advantage of South Korea's efficient transportation system. From the bustling streets of Seoul to the tranquil temples in the countryside, every destination offered a unique perspective on South Korean life. Visits to iconic landmarks like Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village left me in awe of the country's beauty and historical significance. The bustling streets of Busan and the serene natural beauty of Jeju Island provided contrasting experiences, making me realize the incredible diversity this country has to offer.

Living independently in a foreign country challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new opportunities. I developed resilience, adaptability, and a greater understanding of cultural sensitivity. Overcoming language barriers and cultural differences taught me the importance of open-mindedness and acceptance. The friendships I forged during my time in South Korea will always hold a special place in my heart, as they contributed to my personal growth and global perspective.
